Description
Nettles are rich in Iron and Vitamin C and most horses will happily eat them out in the fields once they have been chopped down and allowed to wilt so they lose their sting.
Historically Nettles have been used to help support a healthy blood supply and circulation. Iron is needed for the production of red blood cells and hemoglobin.
Vitamin C is an effective anti-oxidant, although this is not so essential for horses as they produce the enzyme, L-gluconolactone oxidase in their livers - which is responsible for turning glucose into Vitamin C. Nettles can be added into the horse's daily feed and we offer a wide variety of sizes from 500g to 5kg so you can order whatever quantity is convenient for you.
We include Nettles in several of our supplements for both dogs and horses. Including our Multi-Flex & Multi-Flex Gold, Cush X and Cush X Gold all of these supplements are suitable for " Horses and Ponies prone to laminitis.
What's in it?
Ingredients
Nettle Herb (Urtica dioca)
How do I use it?
Guidelines*
- Horses: 20 to 30 grams daily
- Add to feed on a daily basis, if possible splitting the required amount between two feeds
- Allow up to one month for benefits to be seen
*please note: we do not include feeding instructions on the packaging or include a scoop in the bag or tub. This is due to the consistency of straight herbs eg roots are more dense than leaves or flowers, and they can be given to a variety of species. For further research on using straight herbs for animals there are some good books available including Hilary Self's "A Modern Horse Herbal".
If you have any concerns about your animal's health please contact your vet immediately. If you have any queries about using this product, or if your animal is pregnant, please contact our Helpline Freephone 0800 052 367 or email helpline@hiltonherbs.com
